Small Business Marketing Quicktip: Are You Committing The Biggest Marketing Failure?

The biggest marketing failure is in the followup. In this Small Business Marketing Quicktip Ely talks about this issue and how you can fix it in your business. Are you taking advantage of all the connections you make to help grow your business?

The biggest thing that most people fail at in their businesses when it comes to marketing is the follow up process. And the reason is because they have one follow up.

They might send a letter, a thank you for being my customer. Or if you met them at an event in a live networking situation you send them a quick email that says “Hey I just wanted to follow up with you. It was good meeting you.”

But then it kind of falls off the list. What you need to do is put together a series of things.

You want to keep in touch with people all the time, both prospects and customers. You need to stay in front of them all the time or they are going to forget about who you are and what you do.

A Couple Of Things You Can Do

You can set up email in a campaign. Following up once a month or once every couple of months or something like that. And it doesn’t even have to be sales pitchy. I don’t recommend it be sales pitchy.

What you want to do is basically say “Hey this is what is up with us. Hopefully everything is going good.”

Just basically build the connection and make sure they have access to get to you if they are interested in your products and services.

Same thing with offline. You can add offline to it. Send them a letter. Send them a thank you note. Send them a postcard or something similar.

You need to do something consistently at least for a year long. Keep in touch with them at least once a month for the next 12 months bare minimum.

Because if you are not doing that you are losing money.
You are losing contacts.
You are losing prospects.
You losing customers, plain and simple.

Hopefully this was helpful. It’s really a big one for you. It will make a huge huge difference in your business because a lot of these people that are not buying today may buy next month you never know. But if you don’t stay in touch with them they are going to forget about you.
